Imagine yourself in a dark passage.
You have been walking barefoot and at one point you feel lost. Totally lost… like you used to get lost as a child – you only know that you’re alive, and nothing else…
It’s so dark…
Your feet become your eyes and they lead you on…
You are afraid but you feel the urge to go on – curious to know what is behind the next bend.
There are sounds…
…human voices singing in the distance.
…or maybe close to you. What is distant and what is close?
There is a smell in the air and it makes you stop.
It’s a familiar smell. So familiar, though indefinite, that you are suffused with sensations of a recollection.
Not a specific recollection – a picture you have seen or a moment you can remember – but a link with something which transcends time…
…something that you don’t remember but is always with you.
There are more bends, and more turns.
You plunge into complete darkness.
You plunge into the nothingness which threatens your being.
The panic grows.
You reach out,
your hand touches…
…somebody’s touch
…there’s somebody else here, in the dark…
But strangely enough – you are not afraid.
A gentle voice whispers in your ear…
…”Long, long ago…
…and still – right now…
…in the emptiness of space and here, in the heart…
…the magic is still alive…”
And then the other one goes away… as if he’s never been here
And you’re by yourself again…
…or maybe not
